Activity 6: Quick Write Direction: Most of you had experiences which may have been funny, emotional or even shocking. Share that unforgettable experience by writing a journal using the past perfect tense.
This happened when I was in 11th standard in 2009. As usual after my school I went to attend my coaching classes. After that I spent some time with my girlfriend in market and restaurant and then I escort her to her home. It was 10:30 pm when I was returning to my home. There was a narrow and isolated road on my way to home. As I was passing through that I area, I saw that 4 guys were standing in the narrow road in order to block it and were teasing a girl there.
That girl was driving her scooty but immediately applied brakes as those guys came in front of her suddenly. They stopped her and started teasing her. When they saw me coming from behind on my bike, one of them signalled me to take a U turn and go away. I saw the situation and simply stopped my bike and when I was about to take U turn I saw the girls face. Her face was full of fear and tears were rolling on her cheeks. Her eyes were like asking for help. She was so scared that she was unable to say a word. I felt that what I am doing?? Why I am leaving her alone??
But on the other hand, I know I can't do much for her as they were 4 guys and all are drunk and the place was isolated and I am not a superhero and it's not a movie, it's a real life situation.
All these thoughts were running in my mind in microseconds. Then I don't know what happened to me and I stopped my bike and went directly to those guys and hit the first guy very hard on his stomach and grabbed a stone and throws it towards the other three. As I already mentioned I am not a hero, all of them came together and beat me so much on my face, stomach, back, and legs. They got distracted from that girl and I shouted at her to go away as fast as possible. She wants to help me out but again I shouted at her to go away and not to waste my efforts. Then she left quickly.
They continued to beat me and I was defending myself and sometimes tried to hit them back but I failed to hit them. After that they left me there and left that place.
Luckily no major injuries were there on my body and no blood on my face. Then I went to my home and first time in life I slept with the pain on my body and a smile on my face.
From that day onwards I started protecting and helping others. Protecting others doesn't means to fight physically in order to protect someone, it means to stand and support the person who is in trouble. Your small support can save someone's life. No need to be muscular or a hero, just have guts to fight the evil.
I am going anonymous because I don't want to get publicity or praise from others because I had done nothing good I just done what was right. Ask yourself before doing anything. We all possess a hero inside us which is our bright side
