ACTIVITY 3A: Arrange the following events that demonstrate how to focus specimen using a microscope. Write numbers 1-10 on the space provided.
________ If the slide is already prepared, put it on the stage and secure with stage clips.
________ Get the microscope from the cabinet using your both hands, one hand holding the arm and the other for the base.
________ Rotate the revolving nosepiece from LPO to HPO for viewing finer details of the specimen and to have a larger magnification for about 400x.
________ To get light, adjust the angle of the mirror or switch the power button of the light source.
________ After placing the slide on the stage, carefully turn clockwise the coarse adjustment screw to lower the body tube until the LPO is about 1 mm from the specimen.

________ Adjust the iris diaphragm and condenser if the image of the specimen under LPO
________ Slowly turn the coarse adjustment knob counterclockwise to raise the objective until the image of the object comes into clear focus.

________ Look through the microscope. If the specimen is already in clear focus with no need further adjustment, the microscope is described as parfocal.
________ If the specimen is not in clear focus, lower the HPO slowly and carefully until it almost touches the slide.
________ With your eye on the eyepiece, move the fine adjustment knob on a clockwise direction until the specimen comes into focus. Now, your specimen is focused on HPO properly. You can draw the image that you have observed.​​
