The Lonely Traveller
By Kwesi Brew
Leave him alone, sweet enemy, For the mothers of the earth Have sanctioned his freedom; And in priceless. peace He floats in ethereal bliss, A traveller on the shores of eternity. You saw the geniai mists of courage: With his faith as his spear And his past as his shield, He battled the bondage of bludgeons Now far on the horizon The red suns set, The tired suns set To turn old nights into new dawns, And people the skies with black stars, And our hands that slept on the drums Have found their cunning To cheer the lonely traveller Meandering his weary way On the green and golden hills of Africa.
