Activity 3-Does size matter? Directions: Read the procedure carefully and answer the questions that follow. Problem: Can mixtures with the same size be separated through sieving? I. Materials: Il : 1 cup sand 1 cup gravel 1 cup rock 1 tbsp flour 1 tbsp. sugar 3 bowls colander sifter sieve I. Procedure: 1. In a bowl, mix sand and gravel. Label it Mixture A. 2. Mix flour and sugar in a bowl. Label it Mixture B. 3. Mix rock and gravel in a bowl. Label it Mixture C. 4. Put Mixture A in the sieve. Shake it to separate the mixture. 5. Put mixture B in the colander. Shake it to separate the mixture. 6. Put Mixture C in the sifter. Shake it to separate the mixture. 7. Record your observation on the table on the next page.
