There are many ways to understand how static electricity works. Let us
experience and be amazed by how this static electricity makes magic!

Comb
1. Run a comb through your hair to charge the comb with static electricity. The
comb can now be used to attract neutral pieces of paper.
a What happened to the pieces of paper when you place the comb
above them?
b. What can you conclude about what happened?
2. Inflate two balloons and tie them with the same length of the string. Rub one
balloon vigorously on your hair or against a woolen material in one direction
Holding each balloon by their string, bring the balloon near to each other.
a What happened to the two balloons when they are put together?
b. What happen if two balloons were rubbed and place together?
3. Rub a glass rod to a cloth. After rubbing, place the charged rod near a
running faucet water
