As the resistance is cut into three equal parts. each part has resistance of R/3 ohms.
when 3 resistors each of R/3 oms are connected in parallel, the equivalent resistance will be
1/R' = 1/(R/3) + 1/(R/3) + 1/(R/3)
= 3/R + 3/R + 3/R
= 9/R
therefore 1/R' = 9/R
by taking the reciprocal, we get R' = R/9
combination resistance R' = R/9 .................... Answer
