A teacher wrote the expression ( 4 + 2 x 5) + 7 + 2³ on the board and called two pupils to solve it.
Below are the solutions of two pupils.
Pupil 1
(4+2 ×5) ÷ 7 + 2³
= (6 × 5) ÷ 7 + 2³
= 30 ÷ 7 + 2³
= 30 ÷ 7 + 8
= 30 ÷ 15
= 2
pupil 2
(4 + 2 × 5 ) ÷ 7 + 2³
=(4 + 10) ÷ 7 + 2³
=14 ÷ 7 + 8
=2 + 8
=10
