towards the normal? Why?

The light ray will move towards the normal .
REASON -
ice is optically denser than air . when light ray enters ice it loses energy and its speed decreases. therefore the light ray move towards the normal to compensate with the change in speed.

The bending occurs bcoz light travels more slowly in denser medium. A demonstration of refraction can be conducted at home in a only dark room.
