A good listener has a number of advantages over a careless and
inattentive listener. First, he displays good manners by listening attentively.
Then he develops his own thinking skills when he listens carefully to get the
important points in what he listens to. He puts these together, arranges them,
and makes his own conclusions before he reads. Some information may not
be directly stated but he is able to infer from what he hears.
