In this scenario, I will try to know the side of the neighbors on what brings them to conclude such ideas. After collecting their side, I will try to befriend the new comer and feel him welcome. Once that I have earn his/her trust I will asked about his business and what negotiations do those men have with him. In this case it will avoid false accusations and it can also save the face of the new comer.
