A.) ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Alfred Edward Housman was born on March 26, 1859 in Fockbury, Worcestershire, England and died on April 30, 1936 in Cambridge. He was an English classical scholar and poet and was one of the foremost classicists of his age and has been ranked as one of the greatest scholars who ever lived. "When I Was One-and-Twenty" is a poem published in his extremely popular first collection A Shropshire Lad (1896). This poem is about the speaker's personal experience. It is a lyrical poem famous on account of its themes of regret and wisdom.
