Hobbes was a keen observer of human nature. I learned you have to keep those concepts in mind when you are dealing with people to protect yourself. You have to keep an eye open for their innate selffishness in others in order to not become their victims. A goid piece of advice in yhis regard is:

Our freedom is up to every one of us and each one of us to make it happen. It starts from your within. If you have a good attitude toward yourself and others and live itself, you are the one who would lead yourself to a positive way of life. Your mind is the master power, it molds and shapes you.

Some people have all the freedom in the world but still don't feel that way due to a lack of a thankful and appreciative mind, heart, and soul for what you have and be able to do things freely. when you master the thankful mind, you'll start feeling your freedom which is created for yourself. If you understand it, you are on your way to succeeding the freedom.
