The interaction between liquid outer core and solid inner core produces the magnetic field. The earth is like a big magnetic with magnetic north pole and south pole. The magnetic field act as shield which protects the Earth from dangerous radiation coming from the heat of the sun. Without the magnetic field, the earth will burn from hazardous radiation and people living on earth will die instantly.
