Given 2 x + 3 y = 2000
3 x + 2 y = 2500
Solving them
x = 700 and y = 200'
Required is x + 5y = 700 + 1000 = 1700

Let the cost of table be x and the cost of chair be y.
So, ATQ,.....
2x + 3y = 2000. (I)
and,
3x + 2y = 2500. (ii)
Multiply (i) by 2 and (ii) by 3, we get
4x + 6y = 4000. (iii)
and,
9x + 6y = 7500. (iv)
Subtract (iii) from (iv),
9x + 6 y = 7500
4x + 6y = 4000

5x. = 3500
x = 700.
Putting x = 700 in (I), we get...
2×700 + 3y = 2000
3y = 600
y = 200.
So, cost of one chair is Rs. 200.
Hence, the cost of one table and five chair
= 700 + 5×200
= Rs. 1700
