The Dravidian peoples, or Dravidians, are an ethnolinguistic group living in South Asia who predominantly speak any of the Dravidian languages. There are around 245 million native speakers of Dravidian languages.[1] Dravidian speakers form the majority of the population of South India and are natively found in India, Pakistan, Afghanistan,[2] Bangladesh,[3] the Maldives, Nepal,[4] Bhutan[5] and Sri Lanka.[6] Dravidians are also present in Singapore and the United Arab Emirates through recent migration.
It is said that the tribe that came to India from the north was later called as Dravidians.
They had their own language and culture.
Dravidians gave India the concept of mother as a 'Goddess' and father as 'God'. As a result, the thought of Parvati and Shiva as mother and father developed in India.
Dravidians gave the tradition of worshipping nature and animals.
Going forward, the Dravidians got highly influenced with the Aryan culture.
This resulted in inter-caste marriage between two tribes.
When the dominance of Aryans increased the Dravidians shifted to south India and settled there.
The people of south India are considered Dravidians and they speak Dravidian language such as Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam, etc.
