Let it be known to us all that too much discontentment may be brought about by greed, arrogance, and ungratefulness.
Greed, as we know it, is desiring and wanting for more even if you already had enough. Arrogance is overbearing pride evidenced by a superior manner toward inferiors. It is wanting to be at the top of everyone. Ungratefulness is having no sense of gratitude towards the people who provides you with everything you need.
To do away with the feeling of discontentment, here are my 3 tips to learn and master.
1. Learn to be selfless.
To be selfless is to always put the interest of others above your. It is the opposite of being selfish or greedy. You can't be selfless and the same time selfish. You'll become contented with what you have if you'll see that you really don't need more in your life, and this "more" belongs to the ones who need it the most.
2. Learn to be humble and simple.
Being to arrogant means that you don't want others to get pass you, you don't like the idea that someone is better, smarter, wealthier and more equipped than you. Thus, you're arrogance compels you to buy the latest model of iphone even if you just bought the latest model of Samsung last week. Your arrogance feeds your ego and this cause you to be discontented. My advice is, learn to be humble, there is no shame in being humble, there is no shame in a having a simple phone. If you keep on pushing yourself to the top, one day you'll find yourself at the bottom. When you drive fast and someone drives faster than you, your arrogance will tell you to go even faster until your soul leaves your body. You see, arrogance will never make you live longer, peaceful, and happier. A happy life is found in a simple life.
3. Learn to be grateful.
We will never learn to be contented of what we have if we fail to be grateful for everything that we have. You don't need a luxury car to realize that you should be grateful, you don't need a mansion to realize that you should be grateful. Many people live everyday commuting on their way to school or to work, many people are homeless, and here we are, still ungrateful for what we have. You will learn to be contented if you know how difficult it is for your parents to work so hard just to provide your needs. Be grateful, be contented.
