15. Which of the following is most likely the benefit of an intensity scale for earthquakes, over the magnitude scale?

A. Since seismic energy decreases with distance from the epicenter, the intensity also decreases. A person may use this information to locate the approximate epicenter which is at the most damaged place.


B. Since seismic energy decreases with distance from the epicenter, the intensity increases as you move away. This means that the most damaged area is far from the epicenter.


C. Magnitude scale measures the effect of the earthquake in an area while intensity scale measures the actual amount of energy of the earthquake. Intensity scale gives a more comprehensive description about the earthquake.


D. Intensity scale has no advantage over the magnitude scale at all.​
