As a person who also has mental problems. Yes people do have responsibility in influencing my decisions. Anything people have said or is saying will affect my thought process depending how it hits me. Words will affect your thought process and so does gestures and other ways of giving out messages. Why? Because we will interpret some of them as not caring and I personally take them as signs that they wouldn't mind if I die.
If I were given the chance to live an immortal life I would take it. Why? Because I get to have the chance to experience everything the world has to offer. If I am immortal I would have the ability to do things I've wanted such as travelling and taking my time as time wouldn't matter to me as much. Although, there will be a certain point in life where I would have wished I was gone as it will get boring if so.
