In my opinion i think she was feeling down/nervous around everything, since she was 'scared to rock the boat and make a mess' which means she's nervous/scared that everybody will make fun/humiliate of her of making a mess. And since she feels that, she's always hesistant to do her tasks/things to do/hobbies.
